Geauga and Lake County Substitutes

All  new applicants  must complete the following (if you have not been a substitute for the Geauga or Lake County Educational Service Centers in the past 12 months you are considered a new applicant) :

Once you have successfully completed the substitute application, you will need to complete the additional required documents.  When we have all of the required information for you, we will let the distircts that you have selected know that you have completed the substiute process with us.

 

All returning applicants must complete the following:

  • Complete the  Returning Substitute Application
  • Maintain current FBI/BCI Criminal Background Checks (FBI background checks are good for 5 years)  If you need to renew your background checks please call our office to make an appointment 440.350.2563, ext. 0. 
  • Maintain your certification through the Ohio Department of Education. Please  to sign in to your "SAFE" account click here

You are required to fill out the Returning Substitute Application yearly if you are intending to remain a substitute. There will be 5 additional documents for you to complete in addition to your returning application. We must have current background checks, and a current credential on file for you.  When we have all of the required information for you, we will let the distircts that you have selected know that you have completed the substiute process with us.

 

Attention: On July 1, 2019 the Ohio Department of Education will be issuing one type of substitute license. There will no longer be Short or Long Term options, applicants will select teaching fields based on the post-secondary degree(s) that they hold.  For more information click here

 
 
 

ESC Programs and District Substitute Opportunities

The Geauga and Lake County Educational Service Centers are proud to partner with the Renhill Group to provide  Substitute Classified Aides and Certified Teachers for our  ESC Programs. 

Geauga and Lake County ESC Programs:                         

  • Broadmoor -Mentor       
  • BRC- Located inside of Hale Road Elementary and Jordak Elementary School in Middlefield                                   
  • Gaitway High School -Chagrin Falls  
  • Geauga Achieve -Multiple Locations within the Cardinal, Kenston, and West Geauga School Districts
  • Geauga Core -Auburn Career Center
  • Juvenile Detention Center -Painesville City 
  • Preschool Programs -Multiple Locations at Jordak Elementary, Park Elementary, Ledgemont Elementary, Timmons Elementary, and the Metzenbaum Center
  • Preschool Programs - Fairport Preschool Located inside McKinnley Elementary and Perry Preschool located inside the Tarbuck Center.      
  • Project Search -Lakeland Community College, Kirtland 
  • STARS -Multiple Locations within the Cardinal and West Geauga School Districts. 
  • SAIL -Located in Perry. 
  • The Lake Academy -Located inside of the Hale Road Elementary in Painesville Township

Once you have completed the process with the Educational Service Centers  you will be contacted by the districts that you have chosen and/or the Renhill Group to begin work. Please note, you will not be able to  start subbing until all of the  requirements have been met with the Educational Service Centers.
